supersheepskin asked you:

Can you please share some process work or incomplete works? I’m fascinated by your work, it’s very impressive!

Of course! Thanks, I’m flattered. I think I’ll make a few of these posts.

These sketches were for an article that got axed in Fortune magazine, about technology in the fashion industry. I did one of a girl with pixelated clothing, and one of a high heel wedge as a QR code. The story got killed so I don’t know which one they would’ve used but I think it was leaning toward the QR code.

Real talk though, someone should make that 8-bit clutch with the new notification pop up. I’d get a laugh out of it.

‘Addicted to Apps’ sketches

I thought I’d show you guys the sketches for some pieces you’ve seen too! So this is the NY Times job with the girl scout and the pixel fire. This was a really interesting job because didn’t know the size or dimensions of the piece before I started so I had to think of all the situations. And there were so many themes of the article it was hard to zone in on one.

My first idea was showing a message in a bottle, a very archaic means of communication, juxtaposed next  to a very modern means of communication, the email. I wanted to show how things have changed

Next was about the omnipotence of technology, and it hit me that the google pinpoint marker looks like an eye in the center, and I decided to make into the all seeing eye. Still one of my favorite ideas.

For this one I decided I wanted to show the intrusion of privacy so there’s and IPad with a peep hole in it and a guys is spying through it.

Lastly, of course the scout with a pixel fire. This last idea was about nature being shown digitally to show that technology has taken over, even in ridiculous places.

And this is the final piece. I had a little less than a day to hand in all the sketches and the final was going to be a day turnaround, but the article got pushed back so I got a few extra days. I dig it. It was eventually what showed the focus of the article the best.

30 Day Challenge // Day 25 // Something From Mythology

I’ve always loved the mythology of Doctor Who. Recently the 50th Anniversary depicted a Gallifreyan painting which was a moment in time captured in a picture, literally. So, I was curious about what a Gallifreyan sculpture might look like. I imagined it as a TARDIS in a time where everything is gone and all that’s left of these relics is the box of time they contained and the shell has withered leaving only scrambled, fluctuating moments in time from when it was alive. Almost like it’s dreaming.

I know, I know it’s been a while. And it will be another long while. I’m just too busy. I probably won’t be free to make another gif till July, which is why I did two.

But for now, eat up!
