The Shipping Crime

I’m sorry when did shipping become a crime? Did I miss that meeting? Was I out? Did the republicans of the fandom world break the country until shipping was passed as a crime? 6 months ago I never heard a single peep about shipping. I mean sure I knew that there where some really anti-ship people running around shooting down shippers but they where the outliers. They where the few that we grimaced at but went about our day because they where a small hate-based minority. But now it’s fandom against shippers. I’m afraid to post about Destiel on my tumblr these days because I don’t wanna have to argue with every tom, DICK and harry that thinks because I think Dean and Castiel would make a cute couple I don’t care about decent representation for LGBT community on tv. How are they related you might ask? Well apparently some Destiel shippers don’t care about Charlie and have said only Destiel will sate them. Well thats all good and well for them but how dare the fandom assume that we are all like that? We are not all like that. But the fandom doesn’t care. I’ve been slagged off for Newmann, Destiel and now Johnlock (which for the record I didn’t even mention Johnlock in the post it was merely extrapolated upon so I could be taunted for a theory I had on the third season) in the last few months alone. What the fucks going on man?

Here’s how I operate - see a couple of guys who I think would make a cute couple. I make up stories about them, draw pictures and basically write out little fantasies cause that’s what I go in for. If the canon doesn’t pull in that direction I understand because hey the world is a woefully unequal place for women, gay people, lesbians, transgender people and pretty much anyone who’s not a white dude. I’m not saying I’m ok with that but I don’t expect the world to bend to my fantasies just cause I want it. I don’t hate on people who have different ships to me or have ships that I don’t agree with because everyone is entitled to their own opinion even if I don’t agree with it.

YET I am making these benign, harmless statements, statements that are not even overtly shippy and am getting my head torn off for it. I asked if anyone had the vid of Burn Gorman saying he didn’t think Hermann’s wife was real and I was torn a new one by someone who essentially said I was being an ignorant dick for saying that Hermann’s wife didn’t exist. In spite of multiple explanations that I just wanted to know if anyone had the video (proof so that I could verify weather this statement was correct for curiosity sake) she ignored that fact and continued blaming me for something I simply did not say.

I do not hate Hermann’s wife, I will be interested to see if she appears in the second movie, I do ship Newmann but i’m not ignorant to the facts of the canon, if she does come into the second movie then I say brava because we need more women characters in movies anyway.

I do not hate Mary Morstan I have no opinion of her because as far as the canon goes she does not exist in Moffats interpretation of Sherlock yet. She could be good, she could be bad, who knows what she could be. Plus even if you’re ignoring the shipping and say you want to kill Sherlock being close to John would be the most logical thing for a hitman/woman to do. You could try to survey all of london for three years or you could get close to John because if there is one thing you know with all certainty it is that Sherlock will make contact with John again (because best friends). Once again I’m not saying that this will/should happen. I’m certainly not going to hate Mary before i’ve even seen what kind of character she will be.

Destiel is probably my biggest peeve right now. They’re my longest standing ship. I love those two. I DO NOT THREATEN TV EXECUTIVES OR DEATH THREAT ACTRESSES BECAUSE OF DESTIEL. I think it would be nice if they where together but I don’t expect them to get together/ don’t petition the studio to demand they get together.

I’m sick of pissed fans putting words into my mouth. Why can’t we all just get along just doesn’t cover it. Back the fuck off is the stage that we are at now.

Ships for me are about love, smut and romances that aren’t as limited, heteronormative and stupid as the ones we are force fed %80 of the time. Ships ARE NOT about hating on people, sending death threats to actresses, hating on female love interests for no reason other then ‘getting in the way of the ship’, demanding things that aren’t ours to demand, ship wars or putting down other people for what they like and enjoy.
