Destiel
Gee I miss the days when destiel was just a bit of fun. 2 characters, great chemistry, never expected them to canonically get together though it would have been nice if they had, lots of fanart/fic/misha being silly and that’s all there was to it.
It annoys me that everyone is acting like everyone who likes destiel are now bad/radical/should be put in their place. Like all of us don’t care about Charlie (who the fuck says that? All the people I watch spn with love charlie and loved her from the moment she danced on screen and our love for destiel had nothing to do with her but we where fucking stoked that there was a gay character who’s storyline didn’t revolve around her sexuality. I mean come on she’s a absolute hero). It pisses me off that the radical nature of some destiel shippers has now polarised the rest of us in the fandoms eyes. Destiel peeps are getting shamed and slammed and looked down upon? Fuck that. Some of them are being crazy about it, I’m not denying that but I feel like shipping them is now a dirty word (and not in the good way). I hate that I second guess posting my usual fangirl commentary on destiel because I’m worried someone might read me the riot act about representation. Ask anyone who knows me. I’ve been an avid supporter of having all forms of sexuality represented legitimately in well everything (movies,tv,books) and it pisses me off that me liking destiel now lumps me in with people who are jeopardising that on a tv show I really care about. Where are the days when we could ship what we wanted and everyone just sort of gave you a solidarity nod as you walked by and barely anyone dumped on anyone else about it. You like wincest? Alright. Not my bag but more power to you. Megstiel? Enjoy your legit ship my friend. Samxgabe, sabe? They would be so much fun to attempt to make work. I say brava.

Some of the steampunk’d Portal designs I cleaned up for my panel at Steamcon yesterday!
I have lots of thoughts on how to effectively reinterpret a character through another cultural lens- steampunk, post-apocalyptic, superhero, what have you- but a lot of it revolves around maintaining a costume’s character, functionality, and aesthetic. I’m sure I can ramble on about that at some point when I’m not recovering from con crud. :)
