Have you ever stood in a line for WIC? PREGNANT WOMEN WILL WAIT AS LONG AS SIX HOURS with noisy toddlers to get their coupons for free proteins like cheese and dry beans. DRY BEANS. They can’t otherwise afford this necessary food to meet their monthly protein requirement to have healthy babies.
Do people honestly have any idea what sort of a problem food is in this country and how many children don’t have regular access to healthy meals? Do they know how many pregnant women don’t get the proper nutrition?
Fuck you Republicans.
I’m not even tagging these posts “politics.” This is basic humanity; it’s not me being a liberal—it’s me being a decent human and these congresstwits being INHUMAN.
When I tried to explain this to my friend in Canada she assumed I was making this up, because no one could be that cartoonishly evil.
Im on WIC as well as the woman I baby sit f or who has a 6 month old. I use their food to keep my milk supply up so its not as big of a deal but she needs it for formula and solids.Formula is $20 (sometimes more sometimes a smidge less) a can. Thats what most babies LIVE OFF OF. These families NEED this shit. Im giving her all the solid food I have that my son cant eat.
WIC is for pregnant women and children 5 and under. Its fucking milk, peanut butter, non-flavored cereal (cheerios), cheese, bread, eggs and dry beans. ITS SO IMPORTANT.
When I first got on wic I was scared, hungry and pregnant. We had lost our home, my husband lost his job and we were STARVING. There was literally nothing to eat and they helped us get to a food bank for the day, got us in to a class where they were giving out grocery gift cards and set us up with some checks. i wouldnt have eaten if it werent for WIC.
They are fucking monsters.
WIC is one of the few things that saved my family from the streets/starvation and Fuck Fuck Fuck Fuck ANYONE trying to excuse this shit
My mother was on WIC for pretty much the first ten years of my life. The fact that they decided to cut WIC is horrendous. I would have starved for most of my childhood if it wasn’t for the WIC program.
Seriously what the fuck were they thinking, shutting down WIC?
I was watching the news earlier and the republicans speaking were washing their hands of any responsibility for stopping funding to these programs, saying it was all Obama’s fault. Seriously, that’s their line.
