Ok so Pacific Rim is the greatest movie ever and I adore everything that has to do with it especially the whole Drift Compatibility aspect. It’s set a new level of intimacy for characters, so I felt like abusing my otp a little.
Harvey was one of the best damn Jaeger Pilots in the US when his jaeger and copilot, Scottie, were taken out on a mission. A few years later he stumbles upon Mike Ross, a scrappy kid trying to make a living in the California Shatterdome. He had lost his friend Trevor and his grandmother in a Kaiju attack a few years earlier. They bond over their NEw York roots and love of Movies and realize that they have a great compatibility. Harvey tests the theory by sparring with Mike and then comes up with the crazy idea to pass Mike off as a trained Jaeger Pilot, so that Harvey can get back in on the action. Marshall Jessica Pearson catches on pretty quickly, but their Drift is off the charts so she lets it slide.
Donna is their Flight Command (ie Tendo Choi), Rachel is head of the Science Department, and Jessica is Marshall of the Shatterdome.
Together Mike and Harvey pilot the Mach 4 Jaeger Brooklyn King.
And Harvey would totally be one of those kinda douchey pilots who thinks he’s hot shit, so i’m not gonna apologize for making him look like a complete tool. Mike forgives him though, so I can too.
