I love these pics of Burn Gorman behind-the-scenes because they feed into my head-canon that Hermann, at some point, decided he was in a hurry to become an old man.
Look at Burn! He looks like a cheeky schoolboy in his dad’s clothes. But in just about every scene (a huge exception being that final little shuffle over to Newt), Hermann has added on at least 20 years.
Young men going on like they’re old men just don’t quite work, Hermann, I mean, c’mon dude, you’re a 90’s kid, you grew up watching Bill Nye the Science Guy, you never really knew a world pre-internet, hell, you probably tooled around on Memebase making Science Cat macros or you wrote some amazing video game faqs. (You had a brief flirtation with the game Eve, didn’t you? But left because the in-game politics drove you crazy, or maybe you got jumped by the Goon Squad when all you wanted to do was spend a quiet evening mining.)
But then at some point, Hermann, you decided you were in a hurry to grow up for whatever reason. Maybe it started as an act, but by now, it’s stuck. For the most part. Maybe.
