To me there’s something really special about going to a fall out boy show and I’m not gonna elaborate cause I know you all know what it is. It’s special plain and simple.
The lengths we go to in order to hear that sound, in order to see them in the flesh can be impressive too, to say the least.
The last two concerts I went to I flew three hours to another state and drove out into the middle of nowhere and spent the whole day nauseas as the thought that I might not get in and the most recent one I lost like 6 hours sleep, sat in line for nine hours which ended in a 15 hour day and traveled through public transport in the rain.
And it was beautiful. And it was more then worth it. And not meeting them will never take that night away from me. Will never take that two hours of wall smashing sound. Will never take that first whole song I spent trying just to stay vertical cause they where there and they where real and the music was real and that’s all that mattered.
They might have never come back for all we knew. We could have waited forever and some of us would have only to have car stereos and headphones with the sound on full to remember what it was like. But we don’t need that because they’re still in this world with us as the band that we love.
They’re doing what we love them for. To meet them in person is precious I know, it’s amazing but it’s not why we waited. It’s not why we believed. If we all had to agree on them coming back but never meeting us face to face I think we would have all said yes. God yes. And now not later. Yes. And yet still sometimes they come say hi. And yet still they devote more of their time that they don’t have to to us.
I guess what I’m saying is be happy for what we have, don’t bag them out for not giving us something they don’t owe us.
Every time we see them play they say hello with thriller, we’re all the same with sugar were going down, and goodbye, we remember and we’ll see you real soon with Saturday.
