Ya’ll early hundreds of Magnus Archives is wretched. Like stella writing, 10s across the board, wouldn’t change a thing but everyone holding back from everyone else is such rough. Going. I’m just listening to the episode where John and Martin finally talk properly after the circus and it is wretched. Martin having to be isolated. John being isolated. Basira being isolated. I want all my sweet babes back together. Not that they were super happy go lucky before this but at least they felt unified. Now they’re all keeping secrets, keeping distant. John’s humanity is slipping away and no-one seems to care. Martins mum fucking died and he can’t even get a damn hug. Melanie is having a psychotic break because of the ghost bullet. John was in a coma for 6 months and literally no-one has said they’re glad he’s ok. I’m devouring eps like it’s going out of style and I know it will be for a reason, a really good, really well written reason (and this is extremely standard fare for horror) but Christ almighty. Just dragging myself through the mud here.

Up to ep 93 of Magnus now. I’m glad I was able to put to page how I was picturing Johnathan but jeez it wasn’t easy. Im proudest with how his hair turned out. I wanted it to look like before being archivist, John would style his hair back but these days for the most part it goes unstyled or is styled occasionally and the style inevitably falls out. It was also interesting drawing someone who is supposed to look older then they are and try to nail that mix. Anywhoosle bee. More Magnus art on the way I’m sure.

Folks I am listening to the podcast The Magnus Archives, an amazing and delightful horror anthology, and because I’m only up to episode 80 I’m trying to stay away from the fanart until I’m up to date to avoid spoilers. That being the case I felt like it was a good opportunity to try and draw the characters as I have been imagining them so I won’t forget when I do finally get to dive into all the fanart and fic.

I decided to draw Martin yesterday and drew him as a noodly lanky little dude because I missed the line in the podcast about him struggling to fit into a window. A few lovely people brought this error to my attention yesterday which I really appreciated because I’m not about fat erasure/fatphobia.

I got my brother to copy and send me redacted descriptions of the characters so I won’t get spoiled or wildly miss the mark again.
